Web & Graphic Designer
UK, Thirsk
£27,000 - £32,000
We are looking for a Web and Graphic Designer to take ownership of how Rat Race Store looks and feels across all channels. You will be responsible for creating strong, consistent design work across our website, marketing and product range.
This is a hands on role with real variety. You might be working on website visuals, Amazon listings, product launches, creative for PPC and digital advertising, or new merchandise designs.
This role is focused on the Store, but you will also support the look and feel of our event stores and expos, helping ensure a consistent brand experience across everything we do.
You will work closely with the Store team on a day to day basis.
Key Responsibilities

Design and produce creative assets for website, social media, PPC and digital advertising, and retail

Manage and improve the appearance and user experience of the Rat Race Store website

Create product imagery and supporting visuals for launches and campaigns

Support product development through design input on colours, features and styles

Develop creative for PPC campaigns and digital advertising across multiple platforms
-
Design merchandise including apparel and accessories

Prepare artwork for print and liaise with suppliers where needed

Support the presentation of event and expo stores

Produce marketing materials such as flyers, packaging and product information
This is a varied role and will also involve supporting the day to day needs of a small, fast moving team when required.

Qualifications:

Graphic design skills with at least 1 year experience

Experience with website design and maintenance

Strong working knowledge of Adobe design software

High attention to detail and strong creative instincts

Ability to work independently and manage your time

Comfortable working to fast moving and changing deadlines

A strong portfolio that shows your design work

Experience with Shopify is an advantage

Role overview
We seek maternity cover for a position within our marketing team until June 2027 with a view to retaining the right person in a permanent marketing role ongoing. We are looking for a creative, organised, and proactive Social Media & Marketing Communications Officer to support the delivery of engaging, high-quality and relevant content across all Rat Race digital and offline channels.
This role is key in shaping how our brand communicates with its audience, driving engagement, increasing awareness, and supporting commercial objectives through compelling storytelling and strategic messaging.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Management

Plan, create, and schedule engaging content across all social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)

Manage day-to-day activity including posting, monitoring, and responding to comments and messages

Develop and grow our online communities, ensuring consistent brand tone and voice and relevant information and advice

Track performance metrics and optimise content based on insights
Content Creation

Produce high-quality written, visual, and video content

Attend events to capture content and coordinate our featured customer content

Write engaging copy for social posts and email communications

Maintain a consistent brand voice across all communications
Marketing Communications

Support the planning and delivery of event marketing campaigns

Email marketing (creation, scheduling, reporting)

Contribute to website updates and blog content

Work closely with internal teams to align messaging and promotions

Support the development of monthly/annual content calendars

Skills & Experience
Essential

Experience managing social media accounts

Strong copywriting and communication skills

Good understanding of social media platforms and trends

Previous experience designing and creating email campaigns

Basic design skills (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)

Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks

Able to attend our HQ office in Thirsk once a week
